Biography

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Snow White was the daughter of a Queen and after she died, Snow White's vain step-mother, the Evil Queen, took over the kingdom. Jealous of her step-daughter's beauty, she made Snow White a scullery maid and dressed her up in rags to conceal her beauty. But as Snow White grew older, she became more beautiful until one day, a Prince came by and noticed her and the two fell in love. Unknown to any of them, the Evil Queen was watching and grew jealous of them.

The Huntsman was ordered to take Snow White out into the forest and stab her to death and bring her heart in a wooden box, but he was unable to, and confessed to the young princess of her stepmother's jealousy and told her to run away. Snow White complied and fled deep into the forest, and had a terrible hallucination, imagining the trees were trying to grab her, and she collapsed on the ground, sobbing. When she recovered, the forest animals approached her and she befriended them. The animals led her to the house of the Seven Dwarfs, and after she cleaned the house, she went to sleep on their bed.

It wasn't long before the Dwarfs returned after a hard day of working. Finding the house clean, they believed a monster was in their house and armed themselves, but instead found Snow White, still asleep. The Dwarfs allowed her to stay if she did the housework in return for keeping her safe from her stepmother, but one Dwarf, Grumpy, was wary of her, as he didn't trust women. The Dwarfs quickly warmed up to her, even Grumpy, and they performed a song for her. After dancing and telling a story, Snow White slept in the Dwarfs' room, while they found a different place to sleep. As she went to sleep, Snow White blessed the Dwarfs for their kindness.

Meanwhile, back in the castle, the Evil Queen had discovered that Snow White still lived, and decided to deal with her herself. Using a potion, she transformed herself into a hideous hag and took a poisoned apple that would put someone to sleep if they ate it. When the Queen had went to search for Snow White, the Dwarfs had left to work. While Snow White baked a pie for them, the Queen found her and peered at her through the window, posing herself as an apple giver. After Snow White let her inside, the Queen offered her an apple. She bit it, and the spell worked, and Snow White collapsed, asleep.

As the Queen was about to leave to her castle, the Dwarfs attacked her after they heard about the Queen's villainous scheme and she fled up a cliff to escape, but lost her footing when lightning struck the cliff, and she plummeted to her death below, a boulder crushed her, and two vultures flew down to feed on her body remains. With the Queen dead, the Dwarfs returned to find Snow White apparently dead, and they wept. Placing her in a glass coffin, she remained there until the Prince from before came looking for her and kissed her, and she woke up from the spell. The Dwarfs rejoiced that Snow White was alive, and celebrated as the Prince carried Snow White to his kingdom, where they were most likely married.

Sofia the First

Snow White appears in the series Sofia the First, in the episode "The Enchanted Feast". Here, Snow White briefly tells her own story of how a seemingly feeble old woman offering an apple turned out to be her stepmother the Evil Queen in disguise and the apple was poisoned, telling Princess Sofia to trust her instincts no matter what anyone else says, and that people aren't always who they seem to be, which ties into Sofia's suspicious feelings toward a visiting sorceress who is actually an evil fairy in disguise. At the end of the episode, Snow White appears again in a magic morpho mirror, smiling proudly at Sofia.

In "Forever Royal" when Sofia is battling Vor inside her amulet, Snow White appears to Sofia in spirit form, along with all the princesses who have been summoned to help Sofia in her times of need, and they encourage her to be brave and strong for they all believe in her.

Ralph Breaks the Internet

Snow White appears with her fellow Disney Princesses and honorary members Anna and Elsa as netizens of Oh My Disney in the sequel to Wreck-It Ralph. They are on break in their dressing room when they are startled by the appearance of Vanellope von Schweetz glitching in to escape First Order Stormtroopers looking to capture her for illgeal pop-up advertising.

When the girls immediately leap to confront their would-be attacker, suspecting her of being sent by one of their respective Disney Villains, Snow White is the only one who doesn't take up arms against Vanellope. When Vanellope tries to assure the girls she's a princess as well to get them to stand down, they are still wary, so they grill her on various details from their respective films to see if she's legit in her claim, with Snow White asking if Vanellope has ever been poisoned, produdcing one of the poison apples to prove her point.

Once Vanellope confirms she's a princess with answering the big question Rapunzel asks her positively about having a big, strong man around to save her, the girls welcome her into their group. After commenting on Vanellope's casual wear, Cinderella has her mice friends make comfy casual wear for the rest of the girls, allowing them to take a more modern look from their normal appearances from their respective films. After explaining to Vanellope about having an "I Want" song and looking at a water source for inspiration, the girls are summoned back for another quiz, and wish Vanellope well before she departs from their presense.

Later, when Oh My Disney suffers a Denial-of-Service attack from viral clones of Ralph caused by his insecurities manifested by the Arthur virus, the girls evacuate for their own safety. When Ralph is able to subdue his viral clones by making peace with his insecurities, causing them to vanish, he nearly falls to his death, but the girls immediately move to help him when they see him in danger, resulting in Ralph ending up in Snow White's trademark dress when they successfully save his life, before befriending him, with Elsa assuring him that "any friend of Vanellope is a friend of ours".

Descendants

Snow White appears in the 2015 Disney Original Movie, played by Stephanie Bennett. She appears at the coronation of Prince Ben as a local news reporter for the Auradon news network. She is surprised to learn that her stepmother's daughter, Evie, designed Mal's coronation gown. It is also revealed that the Evil Queen still has disdain towards her, saying that Snow White must've had work done.

Personality

Snow White is well known for her kindness and optimism — both of which act as her greatest strengths, as they've guided her safely through the various hardships faced throughout her life. She is quick to charm, winning the trust and admiration of the Prince, forest animals, and the Seven Dwarfs rather quickly, proving her kindness, and pleasant aura makes her a beloved figure. Considered as the "Fairest One of All", Snow White's beauty lies both within her physical appearance and pure heart. With no negativity within her, Snow White is the physical embodiment of positivity and innocence.

She can also be playful and somewhat sassy, as she takes advantage of Grumpy's sour disposition and initial dislike for her by teasing him. She largely ignores Grumpy's rude remarks, responding only with a soft smile or cheery glow as a means of annoying him.

Though generally childlike and gentle, Snow White can also be assertive, with the authoritative nature of a mother. Once she takes residence in the cottage of the Seven Dwarfs, Snow White takes control of the household, turning it from an unkempt hovel to a clean and humble environment. She furthered her authority by giving the dwarfs a designated bedtime, as well as persuading them to wash in order to eat dinner, and despite some initial reluctance from the Dwarves, they were ultimately unable to bypass Snow White's firm but kind attitude. In addition, she showed leadership potential when guiding the animals around the house during their cleaning session, successfully instructing them on how to best clean the house and various items inside.

Having been turned into a slave in her own home by her stepmother at a relatively early age, Snow White is hard-working. Despite her servant work being forced upon, she was shown to be efficient with her chores. In the dwarfs' cottage, she didn't hesitate to clean the household upon discovering how filthy it was, never minding the work that had to be put into such a task. She doesn't take her blessings of finding shelter in the dwarfs' cottage for granted, instead deciding to work for her residence.

Snow White's greatest flaw is also her greatest strength. Due to her strong sense of kindness and goodwill toward others, the princess can at times be unwary and easily manipulated. Her empathy for a seemingly harmless crone led Snow White to disregard the dwarfs' orders to avoid strangers at all costs. This would result in Snow White's downfall. However, as mentioned above, her loving heart is ultimately able to prevail, as her mutual love for the Prince ultimately saves her life. This exemplifies both the dangers and advantages of having a kind heart.

Physical appearance

Snow White is a teenage girl blessed with beauty so flawless and enchanting she is the "fairest in the land." The phrase "lips red as the rose, hair black as ebony, and skin white as snow" describes her most notable features, being her rosy red lips and rosy cheeks, and both her hair and skin color. Being fairly short in height, Snow White has a rather slender, flat-chested figure and dainty little feet.

Her signature dress consists of a navy blue bodice with gold piping down the center and along the waistline and a high white collar and a pale yellow skirt and white, lace-edged petticoat that stop at her ankles. Her short, puffed sleeves are a lighter blue color than her bodice, and the red cloth poking through exemplified the "slashing" design, which was very fashionable during the Renaissance era. It involved cutting the cloth outside the outfit and pulling through another layer of cloth from underneath. Both sleeves have gold cuffs that match the piping on her bodice. She also wears tan pumps decorated with white bows. In the film and most of the franchise, she also wears a brown cape with red lining. Snow White's short black hair is styled in a bob and parted in the middle. She also wears a red headband with a bow in the center.

Often, when she appears in artwork and merchandise for the Disney Princess franchise, Snow White's bodice is royal blue instead of navy blue; her skirt is likewise a much brighter yellow color.

As a scullery maid, Snow White wears a short white-collared and puffy white-sleeved brown bodice and a long, light brown skirt that is full of rips and holes and also has several patches on it, with light brown clogs and lilac-pink stockings. She wears a blue headband with a bow.

Trivia

  • This version of Snow White served as the inspiration for the parody character Ella on the Total Drama series
  • In the series, Animaniacs, she had an evil version and was the daughter of another villain.
  • In "Wakko's Wish", she was playing by Mindy Mom.
  • Despite most people viewing her as a stereotype and cliche with no real helpful qualities, her goodness and unbendable passion for helping others are admirable traits themselves.
  • Her appearance is slightly youthful, despite her being a teenager. This could be because of Walt Disney's intention of showing the movie to children, which led him to give her a very modest, non-sexual figure. Thus, she looks more cute than simply beautiful.
